man in suit cryingLife can be very hard at times.

It is not easy to understand why a Loving God would allow our loved ones to suffer, or ourselves.

The fact that you have been thinking about this is probably because you have lost a loved one, or something terrible has happened in your life.

And now you are wondering, “Why does God allow suffering”?

Let me say, that I offer my deepest sympathies to you.

Live surely is NOT easy at times. I know what it is like to suffer immensely.

In 1999 my ten-year old son died from appendicitis on my wives birthday. And our life went down from there on.

Only a few years earlier we had lost our home to foreclosure, and I lost my Job working at FedEx.

I know what it is to suffer.

A Place Where There Are No Tears

Yes, one day, if we are faithful to God, we will enter a realm where there will no longer be any tears.

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away” Rev. 21

woman with tears in her eyesBut for now, we are still in this world and have to deal with our pain.

The Lord is the one who helped me and my wife in our time of sorrow.

We sometimes talk about our past, and we say, if it were not for the Lord, we would have gone crazy!

“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” John 14

We found comfort in the arms of Jesus, and so can you my suffering friend.

How Do I Find Comfort From God?

Know that the Lord does not enjoy seeing anyone suffer.

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.

And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the LORD; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive. Jeremiah 29

Tell Him how you are feeling and what you are thinking. You will find He will comfort you like no other can.

It Could Be Worse

There is a story in the Bible about a man who suffered for months like no man in his day suffered.

I am sure you have heard of the man named JOB.

God allowed this righteous man to suffer a lot. First God allowed his to lose all of his wealth.

Then God allowed all ten of his children to be killed in one day!

Then after that God allowed Job to get sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his head.

Then his wife turned against him and told him to curse God and die!

This went on for months, but one day God turned the captivity, or suffering of Job.

God Will Not Let Your Suffering Last Forever

Finally, after months of suffering, this happened to Job.

“And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.

Then came there unto him all his brethren, and all his sisters, and all they that had been of his acquaintance before, and did eat bread with him in his house: and they bemoaned him, and comforted him over all the evil that the LORD had brought upon him: every man also gave him a piece of money, and every one an earring of gold.

So the LORD blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: for he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she asses.

He had also seven sons and three daughters.

And he called the name of the first, Jemima; and the name of the second, Kezia; and the name of the third, Kerenhappuch.

And in all the land were no women found so fair as the daughters of Job: and their father gave them inheritance among their brethren.

After this lived Job an hundred and forty years, and saw his sons, and his sons’ sons, even four generations.”

  1. Hello, I must say that this article is very helpful and informative. I asked this question myself so many times and I am glad you explained the things so good, you inspired me that not everything is lost and that Hope never dies. We all have problems and failures but only God knows why is it like that. I will definitely share this piece of text on my Twitter profile, I am sure many of my friends will find it helpful.

  2. When a topic of this sort was brought up in a forum that I am on, people began to give different answers to the issues but I didn’t know what to believe then but now you have explained why here. One that was close to true for me is because if there is too much peace in the world, nobody will know God. Everyone will not seek his face but this makes it look like God wants attention. What do you think?

    • Hi Henderson, glad you enjoyed it.  I do not think it is that God wants attention.  I think He is aware just how much we need Him.   And most people do not realize this, so He does try to get our attention, I think, at times , thru things that happen, yes.

  3. Thanks a lot for this amazing article an explanation given.

God created this suffering feeling to teach us and to make us stronger. A priest told me that God does not want to hurt us or suffer. Sometimes people blame God for all the bad things but we have to remember that we have the freedom to choose always and maybe we are the only guilty for our mistakes. God is perfect and everything he does is for our good.

Thanks again for this article. If you don’t mind i will share this post on my social media accounts. Wish you a happy new year.

    • You are Welcome Nimrod, yes God is perfect, He makes no mistakes.  One thing I learned in my suffering is that no matter what happens to me it does not change God,  He still is Love.

  4. The grace of God is Always among us.

The pain and suffering comes from our free will and the illusion of ownership. Of course, all of us believe our children are ours even knowing for sure they’re just lent to us as the greatest responsibility.

Thanks for being so brave by sharing your experience with us. That makes me feel really helpful due to the fact that you’re allowing everybody to put things into perspective.

The human perspective is very limited, we must pray, not trying to understand but to get the guidance needed to overcome this life in our way to the one that matters the most.

  5. Hey, Thank you for writing on Why Does God Allow Suffering? I learn a lot while reading your article. I Know that the Lord does not enjoy seeing anyone suffer.

For peace we have to Go to God in prayer and tell Him all your heart. Tell Him how you are feeling and what you are thinking. You will see that he will comfort you like no other can. Thank you for your awesome work.
