stars Jesus

Our Sun is, but you were not really asking that, right?

Proxima Centauri is a small star located around 4.244 light-years from the Sun in the southern part of the constellation Centaurus.

4.244 light-years converts to 24,948,886,083,791.23 miles, or around 25 Trillion Miles away.

Proxima Centauri is a Latin name that means the “nearest [star] of Centaurus”.

This star was discovered in 1915 by Robert Thorburn Ayton Innes and is the nearest-known star to the Sun. It has a magnitude of 11.13 which means it is too faint to be seen with the naked eye. You must use a telescope to see it.

Proxima Centauri forms a third member of the Alpha Centauri system,

And THAT, my friends is our First Astronomy Lesson for Today! I hope you enjoyed it!

Our Sun Is Around 93 Million Miles Away From Earth

When you look up at the Sun this morning, please do not look directly at it, it really can damage your eyes.

Just look a little to the left or right of it and realize that the light that you are viewing at that second is actually 8 Minutes and 20 Seconds old.

It took light 8 Minutes and 20 Seconds to travel the distance of 93 million miles. This is just to give you an idea of just how far away our sun is.

93 Million Miles ain’t no chump change distance!

Proxima Centauri, or Our Nearest Star is 25 TRILLION Miles From Earth

So the next time you look through a telescope directly at Proxima Centauri, realize that the light you are seeing is about Four Years and Three Months Old. Wow!

Since Proxima Centauri is around 4.25 Light Years away, that converts to 4 years and three months. (.25 is one fourth)

That was Astronomy Lesson Number Two. And Math lesson One. Smile.

Our Sun is The Nearest Star at 93 Million Miles Away

There is actually a Sun that is MUCH nearer to us than this one.

For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.

But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. Mal 4.1-2

This Sun of righteousness is none other than our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ!

He is much nearer to us than our Celestial Sun is.

“The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth.

He will fulfill the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them.” Psm 145:18-19.

“God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;

Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;

And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;

That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us.”

Acts 17:24-27.

Jesus is the Sun of Righteousness, Not a Celestial Star.

Jesus is called the Day Star here.

“For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.

We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts” 2Peter1:16-19.

Day star is the Ancient Greek φωσφόρος ‘phosphoros’, Literally, “light-bringer”. It is interpreted by Christians as a symbol for Jesus Christ.

Jesus Said, “I Am The Light Of The World”!

“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” John 8:12

“Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:

Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have

mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord

For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isa 55:6-9.

From the first few paragraphs of this article we can now understand just how much higher Gods ways and thoughts about us are, compared to our thoughts.  He WILL have mercy on us, IF we cry out to Him!

  1. Hello, I must say that this article is very helpful and informative. I am glad you shared this information because it is very knowledgeable. We can’t understand God’s thoughts although He knows everything, He is eternal, Alfa and Omega. I must share this article with my followers on Twitter, many will find this inspirational.

  2. Thanks for sharing this article. I’m not an expert, not even close, but one of my favorite scientific topics is space and everything that comes with it. It makes you look at life from a totally different perspective. You realize that we are tiny atoms in a large system that probably has no end. Awesome! 😀

    By the way, I like the mix of science and religion. Two different scientific branches that explain the same but each in their own words. Keep up the excellent work.

    I’m looking forward to reading more from you.
